Components of a Structured Wiring System
A Media Center
The media center is a central hub where all your media devices are connected. All the wiring sits inside an enclosure that allows you to access everything from this one location. The enclosures come in wood, steel, and other materials. The media center houses data patching and distribution, telephone patching and distribution, CATV splitters, wireless routers and switches, modems, and integrated power supply.
Wiring
Different types of wiring used with structured wiring is usually data (Cat.6/fiber optic), video (coax), voice (Cat.6) and audio (speaker wire). These wires are pulled and connected from the outlets to the panel and out to service. Structured wiring keeps all your wiring centralized making maintenance and upgrades easier and more cost-effective.

You can also install customizable wallplates and inserts that are connected to your media center, finishing everything with polished look.
